Is there a projection reference file for Web Mercator Aux Sphere?  It seems to be a standard used by esri.

  Hi Larry,

  There seems to be a bit of confusion in the community with this projection and Web Mercator. After a bit of research we have come up with a reference system you can use to document the data you import from Arc. It uses the GEM 10C Ellipsoid with the Mercator projection. The IDRISI Georeference file should be as follows:

  ref. system : Web Mercator Aux Sphere
  projection  : Mercator
  datum       : WGS 1984
  delta WGS84 : 0 0 0
  ellipsoid   : GEM 10C
  major s-ax  : 6378137
  minor s-ax  : 6356752.314
  origin long : 0
  origin lat  : 0
  origin X     : 0
  origin Y    : 0
  scale fac   : 1.0
  units       : m
  parameters  : 0

   

  I have attached a ref file which you can copy to the Georef folder under your IDRISI Selva folder found under Program Files.

  Will this also work for direct export to a web site serving maps?

  Larry,

  If I understand correctly, if you export a layer in this projection, the coordinates of the bounding image will not be altered.
