Hi, I would like to analyse a set of aerial images ( 350) for a particular vegetation type. I have successfully run the classification on one image and now need to expand this to the other images.
Is it possible to reuse the signature values created for the first image across the entire image set?
If so how is this done?
I am hoping to automate this process using Python.

There are currently no classification tools that will allow you to do so in IDRISI products. In order to classify all 350 images individual signature files could be developed for each image or the images could be joined and classified to cut down on the number of signature files that need to be created.

If you want to re-use the signatures you can do it by rename the bands so that they have the same names that you used when creating the sig file. This is because the sig file has the band names recorded inside... so you can trick the software to think it is actually using the original bands.
I would not recomend this approach unless you are certain that the signatures are applicable to other scenes... small atmospheric effects may have some big impacts on the outcomes of the classification... I've used this approach and works e.g. for two landsat scenes of the same day and same path...did not work when scenes were from different paths (and different days).
Ah! Remember that you can't have in your idrisi project two resource folders with files with the same name, so it will be probably best to automate the process through command line.
