Is it possible to manually edit pixels, and segments, in Terrset?

Hi,

I would like to edit (add to, subtract) a land-sea mask pixel by pixel, to make it conform to the coastline of my raster image more accurately. Is there a way to do this in Terrset? At the moment the mask is a layer, overlying the satellite image I'm working with.

I am trying to do a segmentation analysis and not getting very accurate results, and it was suggested to me to mask out all ocean areas before trying again.

Also, is there a way to manually edit/adjust the segments in the segmentation module to limit the segments chosen for training in segtrain, to just one land cover type (generally even with a tolerance of 80, it is very difficult to find a segment for some land cover types, which contains just one land cover type). If I use a lower tolerance the module takes an extremely long time to run (i.e. hours).

You can specify a background value that will not be processed. See Note 5 in the Help for Segmentation for more detail. Otherwise, you can create a land mask and use Overlay to mask out ocean.

There is no way to divide a segment after it has been created. It is best to specify several tolerance levels and let it create all the outputs in one go. It will take some time but then you only have to do this once. Then compare the outputs to your land cover.
