How do I create a "cover map" in Idrisi for Windows v.2 format?

I am attempting to run the simple meteorological model found here:

To do so I need to create a land cover map of the area being modeled that tells the model where the water/land is:

"A cover map showing the location of land
and water (ocean) for the region must be prepared in Idrisi binary byte format
(water = 1, land = 2)"

I have created a map that does this in TerrSet version 18.31, however when I output to binary byte form it produces a .rst (not .img) file that is not read by the HURRECON model. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  This is a very old format, maybe 20 years, that we no longer support. In the older format, the .img file is the flat raster data file that is now a .rst file. The older .doc file is the metadata file that is now a .rdc file.

  What you can do is try renaming the newer files to the older format. First, rename your your .rst file so that it has the older .img extension.

  Then, rename the accompanying .rdc file to a .doc extension. But you will need to remove some lines from this new format so that is mimics the older .doc format. Put the two side by side in a text editor, the sample .doc file and the newer renamed .doc file and you will see the format changes. Try to make these changes to the newer file so it has the same format as the older file.

  There is an easier way to create that older format.

  In TerrSet's menu, go to File - Import - Software-Specific Formats - Idrisi File Conversion (16/32).

  Choose to Convert From : Idrisi (32-bit)

  To Idrisi for Windows (16-bit)

  Filetype : Raster file

  Note: the output filename for a 16-bit Idrisi file must be 8 characters or less.  You can rename it to a longer name after you run this module.

   

  Or as mentioned above, you can manually rename the 2 files, then edit the .doc file to remove the first line.

  Add 2 lines after min & max lines:

  display min : 0
  display max : 106

  The values to the right should match your min & max values.
