I have been using Sentinel 2 bands for running OBIA through the segmentation classifier. Has anyone used the same process with Sentinel 1 bands? (for India, only VV and VH are available).
I mainly want to classify the monsoon season images which have a high % of cloud cover, thus rendering visible bands ineffective.
I am using the EO browser to download pre-processed images as the ESA website for downloading raw bands is currently offline.
Hi Anjan, Unlike with Sentinel 2, TerrSet does not have the tools for preprocessing Sentinel 1. When using Sentinel 1 data, we have done the processing using the ESA's SNAP software. After processing the data can be imported into TerrSet.

Thanks James! I downloaded pre-processed images from the EO browser - and then used a combination of S1 and S2 bands to run the segmentation process.
Just wanted to check if anything additional is required with Sentinel 1 images - specially with segmentation classifiers in periods where the visible bands cannot be used - e.g. high cloud cover..
Also, the ESA website which gives the metadata required by SNAP, is currently offline.

Sentinel 1 is best processed in SNAP or another software that can adequately process SAR. But you could try further processing using FILTER. Once technique we have used and documented by others is to use multiple dates of Sentinel 1 to reduce the noise and help resolve land features. This in combination with PCA. Sorry, not much else we can offer with SAR.
