Importing MOD04_L2 Modis Atmosphere Aerosol Swath data into IDRISI

Hi. I have been trying to import some MODIS Aerosol 5min swath data (MOD04_L2) but it has so far proved to be a rather frustrating process. Other MODIS HDF data was easily portable into IDRISI via the HDFEOS function but for some reason, that doesn't work with this particular data set. It doesn't see the georeferencing data which makes reprojecting impossible, particularly when working with multiple files. Is there any way to work around this?

  Josh,

  I was able to import the sample dataset, and I can see that the Ref. System and Units are misdocumented. Not unusual for the import module. But the coordinates seem to match their metadata. For the sample dataset you just need to alter the metadata. Assuming it is latlong, change the Ref. System to latlong and the Ref. Units to degrees. 

  If you need to do this for many files, you can use the METAUPDATE utility.

  Thanks so much James. This works excellently. Was using GDAL to do the reprojections but this is much quicker.
